Drink up, witches! It’s Halloween at the Orchard on Catawba and we’ve turned the Coop, our fun and funky cocktail space, into a terrifyingly tasteful place to sip some freaking-ly amazing cocktails.
Spooky Coop is open now through Halloween and we put our skulls together to create an atmosphere that’s little of eerie (cobwebs, skeletons and spiders), a bit tacky (blow ups, of course) and totally seasonal with pumpkins and cornstalks everywhere to get you in the mood for spooky time. The kids will love it but grownups, you’ll love it even more because we’ve shaken, rattled and stirred up a batch of Halloween-themed drinks, all treats, a few tricks, and a little hocus pocus here and there, like edible glitter garnish. Here’s a sample of the potions we’re concocting for you.
• The Nitro Espresso Martini is especially good on a dark and stormy night. A shake of Ketel One Vodka, Kahlua, Farm Stand Cold Brew and Vanilla. Spring for the pumpkin spice enhancement. Why? It’s pumpkin spice season!
• The S’mores Old Fashioned will remind you that with legal drinking age comes great privilege. It’s a stir of Buffalo Trace Bourbon, simple syrup chocolate bitters, a graham cracker crumb rim and house-made toasted marshmallows. Grown up girl scouts, beware!
• Vampire’s Revenge is a bloody delicious cocktail featuring Ron Zacapa Rum with Bacardi Blood Orange, our own Farm Stand Double Raspberry Jam, Bada Bind Cherry and finished with a Champagne Float, because Dracula was a one classy monster.
• Just like the multifaceted monster himself, we’ve cobbled together some unusual ingredients to make the fabulous Frankenstein, a green and glorious cocktail of Highclere Castle Gin, Midori, caramelized pineapple and a Polyjuice Potion (Harry Potter fans, you know what we’re talking about). Believe us when we tell you, it’s one “alive” cocktail.
There are more haunting elixirs awaiting your visit at the Coop like the Jack-O-Lantern Margarita, Black Widow Martini and the Grave Digger, simple and down to earth. We also have seasonal brews, like Ohio-brewed Blue Heron Oktoberfest, pumpkin ales, hard ciders and apple cider drinks like the Beetlejuice, Apple Smash, and a Hot Apple Toddy to warm your cold, cold heart, or feet.
Weather permitting our firepits will be lit for outdoor seating and if you come at night (and why wouldn’t you) the grounds are aglow with purple, orange, green and white lights. It’s a great atmosphere for drinking and cackling with friends.
If you’re a frequent guest at the Coop, you know we love to set the tone with seasonal décor and we’ve set our own bar pretty high this time. So, grab your witch’s hat, ghoulish gear or just come as yourself and enjoy the experience, Monday through Friday till 4 and Saturday and Sunday until (mwahahaha!) midnight. Don’t forget that Christmas and the Christmas Coop and a festive holiday drink list is just weeks away (now that’s scary.)
